Tipping your hairstylist? How much do you tip?

Do you tip 15% or 20% of the bill?

I got my hair cut and a touch-up yesterday and it was $90. How much would you tip? And do you include the girl you shampooed you?

I tipped $18 to the stylist and $4 to the shampoo girl. I am on the right track is what I am asking?

My haircut is always $28, so I always give her like $10, because it takes her a long time to blow my hair straight.

I think those were generous tips. I believe 15% is the norm. I usually give the shampoo girl 2$, but I don't go to a high-end salon. If I did, I'd give more.

If i dont dry my hair and just leave it wet it is $18 and i give her $5 tip, if she also drys it then it is $30 and I give her $10. The woman that cuts my hair, her husband cuts my husband hair and the price is also $18 and he usualy gives between $5 & $10. I know it seems like alot but they spend alot of time cutting our hair. I always forget to tip the shampoo girl

If I get my hair dyed and blown out I give 20.
Just a haircut and blown out 10.

i just wentot day i gave teh shampoo girl 3 and my haircut was 38 and i gave her 8

I usually tip about 15%. I give the shampoo girl $4-5.

I don't tip my hairdresser anymore because she opened her own salon. I usually tip 15% but I pay $90 for a haircut

Mine is $200 for cut and color. I usually give my hairdresser $40 and the shampoo girl $8

Wow...I must underpay too. My hair usually costs 140 for cut and color. I give 10 to the colorist and 2 to the girl who washes my hair. I'm broke by the time I walk out the door...

Last time i got done it was $100. I gave her $40.

she shampoos me though.

Alright, I'm actually not that bad. I just figured out that I tip about 15%. Still, the way I look at it, hairstylists don't depend on their tips like a waiter or waitress does, so I don't think it looks bad giving 15%. Plus, as far as I know, the hairstylists give a portion of their tips to the shampoo person.

yeah they do.


its weird. my one friend got 50% of whatever she did. like if i paid her say $90, she would get $45.

now my friend who does it now, she rents a chair at the salon she is at. So, she has to pay a pretty expensive rent..... and all of her own products and so forth. but she in turn makes up her own prices and keeps it all.

My cut is 35 and I give 10 bucks.

edited to say if I do both color and cut- they are different girls and the colorist does highlights too I give her 20 and the girl who cuts 10 for a 35 hair cut,

the shampoo girl I give a 1 a wash so she usually gets like 4 bucks cause with the highlights and toner my hair is constantly getting washed or rinsed.

Yesterday I got a haircut, highlights, and a blowout for $70 and I tipped $15.

I tipped the shampoo lady $3.

my hair ususally comes out to $160 for a cut and color- i usually give $25 to my hair colorist and $5 to the girl who washes my hair. I cant afford anymore. i used ot be a great tipper until the prices went up $30 last year!!
