Tips for printing on home printer (special sizes)
I am trying out a test to see if I can print my own birth announcements. Was hoping to just be able to do myself as opposed to ordering custom ones.
I have the right size card stock for the test, and I formatted a word doc to be the same size as the paper... it seems everything I have done is "right", but I cannot get the damn thing to print out correctly.
Anyone have a tip to share as to what I may be doing wrong??

Yes whats wrong-if its crooked the stock is probably too thick. I printed on stock for my wedding invites also. I did it on an HP officejet 7000 series which is a decent printer.

personally, i would change it to a jpeg and order it online for custom sizes. it is not expensive...for example... xmas cards we took our own picture...order onine at costco and paid like 30 bucks for 50 or 100 pictures... worth it imo

well, it is printing in a different spot on the page and is not formatted correctly. So for example, it will run off the page, as opposed to looking like how I formatted it based on the custom size in Word.
Then two times, without making any changes-- it printed in the right spot. But I need to make sure it's consistent.

sounds more like your printer is not liking the card stock, vs it being a formatting issue. Either try a lighter weight card stock, try another printer or have them printed out professionally. I had a few issues with my old printer similar to yours, and it was old and the roller thingie that would s uck the paper in would stick and cause the same problems. I did however have to push a bunch through so that it fed it straight just so all of the place cards were printed on the same printer and the same ink. It was a PIA, then I got a new printer

thanks-- I was more doing a test for size, rather than using the actual cards that I would like to use.
I guess I still have some experimenting to do.

You can change the paper size under your printer settings-this might set it straight?
