Tips for traveling/cruising with a newly potty trained 2 year old...
DD#2 (is 26 months) she was almost trained 2-3 weeks ago but my mom was watching her and insisted on a pull up over her underwear to be at her home or in her car so we had some regression. We have since completely ditched the pull ups and are now on day 4 being 100% accident free (she does wear pull ups at night but has been dry for 1.5 weeks when she wakes up). She tells us when she has to go and doesn't let us put her on the potty so I'm pretty confident that she is good with training and knowing when she has to go. The only thing is that she doesn't give us that much notice when she does have to go.
We are going on a cruise in 2 weeks and I'm a bit nervous. On the ship I figure that there will be lots of restrooms and I will just have to memorize them to get her there quickly. My concern is when we go off the ship for the morning or the day, as well as the drive to and from Bayonne where the ship sails from. I don't want to put her back in pull ups b.c of the past regression. I figure I can at least line her seat with a waterproof chuck pad for our car - but I can't do that in a taxi or bus/ferry.
What have you all done? Training pants only when it might be a while before we can get to a restroom (i.e. taxi or bus to Horseshoe bay).
Also has anyone seen in the stores around here those thick cotton training pants WITHOUT the plastic?
Any other suggestions? she has worked really hard and is very proud of herself and I don't want to cause her to regress again.

Re: Tips for traveling/cruising with a newly potty trained 2 year old...
I will tell this - it will be the scariest trip for your life!!!!
Limit drinks before trips Make DC go before you leave the house - ALWAYS Try to find stops about every 1-2 hours on the road. Remind DC that s/he needs to tell you BEFORE its an emergency and lastly - PRAY!!!!!
I took DS to PA fron LI after about 2-3 months and it was SCARY. We stopped at 2 1/2 hours b/c he was sleeping but when we were about 10 minutes from where we were going and lost, HE HAD TO GO NOW! Luckily we found a McD's and all was good.

We went to Disney when my oldest was newly trained---I tried to stay ahead of him, suggesting stops to the potty before he really really needed to go. I also carried our travel potty in my diaper bag (pottette, folds up, you use disposable bags) when helped out in a situation where we weren't close to a potty. I also have a car seat protector pad and of course lots of extra sets of clothing! I did try the pullup over underwear method on the plane, but my DS absolutely refuses to go in a pullup ever so that didn't really work for us as a back up.

Re: Tips for traveling/cruising with a newly potty trained 2 year old...
I have a car travel potty coming in the mail - but I guess - my question is when on the road do you just immediately pull over? What if you are in traffic or a place that isn't safe to really pull over? What did you all do?
I won't be able to bring the travel potty with us off the ship - I am concerned about the taxi/bus rides. DD will only let me put her own if I say we are walking out the door you MUST sit now - but doesn't always go at that time if she went not long before. She has really been dry at home for a few weeks - our old problem before which is why the pull up over the underwear was that she was having accidents in the car - or waiting in stores until the last second to tell me. She has gotten better as we have been out and about recently and are on day 4 of no accidents but I fear I don't have the control on the ship or on the island that I do at home with careful planning - kwim?

This was my fear - they don't allow swimmies in pools on the cruise ships so I wanted her trained so that she could enjoy the pools - but now that we are past that point now I fear the out and about in strange places.
