Tivo

For those of you who have it - I believe there is a monthly charge for it after you install it. Is that correct? How much per month is it? TIA.

$12.95 a month.

I also think a DVR may be better. Here are teh drawbacks of Tivo (which I LOVE)
No HD recording
Can only record one thing at a time

I think the new DVR's fix these problems.

Re: Tivo

So why specifically do you like the DVR better (besides the records more than one show). Also, I have Time Warner - do they give you another box for DVR? Can you program a whole season of a show like you can with Tivo?

ETA: we don't have HD, so that is not a concern.

Well we have cablevision. You can record 2 things and still be watching something else. You get rid of the box you currently have and get a new box. So its all in one box. Its easy to use. Its less money only 9.95 a month. And Tivo you have to buy the box with cable you just rent it Chat Icon

Re: Tivo

I love my TiVo. In fact, we just got a 2nd one.

It's $299 for a lifetime subscription or $12.99 a month for a monthly subscription.

And if you are psycho, like us, and you need a 2nd one, they give you 1/2 off the monthly service charge for the 2nd one.

Re: Tivo

We have 2 Tivo boxes and a DVR from Directv. I do like the DVR bc I can record two things at once.

For one of my Tivo boxes I paid for the lifetime membership ($299) and the other I got free bc they were my client. Normally you have to pay $99 for the DVR from Directv, but they waived the fee bc they messed up when installing the satelliete to our house. I think we pay $4.99/month for the DVR.
