TMI Question about mucous plug
So I'm 32 1/2 weeks...and sorry if TMI...but I went #2 just before, normal, and when I wiped I saw what might be part of the mucous plug. It was yellowish with a tinge of red. Then I looked in the toilet and saw some more. Is this something that can wait until I call the doctor tomorrow? What else can it be besides that??? I'm really nervous only being 32 1/2 weeks. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
Unless you're having contractions or your water broke, I'd say you can wait until tomorrow. If you see ANY greenish/brown, you need to call your doctor immediately.
It may just be leukorrhea (which is normal).

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
I just came from lamaze and they said if you see any blood to call your doctor...I would especially how early you are.

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
Thanks. I heard that in lamaze as well about the bleeding - but they made it seem like if it was actual bleeding, not a tinge of red. I left a message this morning for them to call me back. Now I'm thinking of it - I wonder if it could be leftover from DH and I think previous night. Oh all the TMI on these boards!

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
If it's part of your mucus plug then you're fine to wait to call the DR. You can lose your mucus plug weeks before going into labor. I woudl definitley touch base with your DR. about it though since you are only 33 weeks.

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
It may or may not be your mucus plug just yet, but I can understand your worries.. and I'm glad you contacted your doctor this AM to check it out
I know that often people lose it very very slowly and gradually, and sometimes discharge can resemble mucus, etc.. but since you still have some time to go, I would have been concerned as well
Let us know how you are doing!

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
Thanks. Still waiting for my call back! My mommy friend said if it had the tinges of red, it sounds like the plug. We shall see! I don't have any pains, so I am not worrying too much about it. Just didn't expect to see that so soon!

Re: TMI Question about mucous plug
I'm back. Don't know what it was, but all is well and I shouldn't be going into labor any time soon. Thanks for your advice!
