To all of you that have discussed TTC with your ob/Gyn a question....
Well, I am finally going to a new Ob/Gyn after having a very bad experience ( he is on the way out of the practice and does not to ob anymore) ) with one last summer. It is the same practice different docotor, which I am told is a great doctor and I am going to "love " her. As much "love" you can have for an OB/Gyn.... anyway, I have been not seriously trying until last month, but not using any form of Birth control for about 3 years. We were using the "whatever happens happens" idea.... My sister said even without trying I should have had an "accident" and have gotten my BFP already. What is she going to do besides the obvious- but I was told I probably do not need a pap becuase I had one less then a year ago, but if I have to , whatever has to be done has to be done,( Guess I will make sure my legs are shaved that day... got to look at the humorous side of things here....) will I be sent right away to a RE? Will I be told how to temp/chart, and use OPK's? Will I get a script for vitamins, or am I wasting my time and should go right to the RE? DH is going to the urologist for some issues next week. ( I think his blood pressure medication is causing problems with things down there sorry if TMI)Help and Thanks in advance for the advice. PS I am not a doctor person and panic at having to go to one.... I am 35 years old, so I am not a "spring chicken " ,and I was also not emotionally ready until recently to have a baby....

Under the circumstances I would go ask that your new doctor start running tests right away. I think that your sister is right - if you have been having frequent unprotected intercourse for three years and nothing has happened, that might be an indication that something is wrong. Given your age, I would go straight to an RE, while also starting to temp and use OPKs.

I agree with your sister....you should have had an accident unless you were avoiding the time you thought you were ovulating.
When I went to the doctor they sent me for CD3 bloodwork, HSG and a mid-cycle sonogram. Since I was TTC for 1 year and I'm irregular she suggested OPKs for 3-6 months before going to the next step which would be Clomid. I mostly likely have PCOS based on my bloodwork and sonogram. But I have been having my periods and I am ovulating therefore she believes I can get pregnant on my own.
I think you need to go to the doctor so you have answers.
Good Luck
