Thanks for posting this.
WE have some pieces we need to get rid of (great shape just doesn't go in the new house) and that would be perfect.

I use the salvation army for these types of things and they don't require your pieces to be of a specific type, i.e. sofa and dresser, etc... You also get a tax write off...

I was actually scheduled for a Sal Army pickup.
but the idea that I could furnish an apt for a needy family meant way more to me than a tax write off.
like I said, it's an option.

Re: To all those looking to unload furniture...this is great
When DH and I moved in together, we had a lot of duplicate items (kitchen stuff). We tried to donate it to them and they wouldn't take it! We went to the mini stoarage places in the city. If you are going to donate, please be sure to call first. Certain times of the year, they do not accept donations anymore because they don't have anywhere to store it and clean it.

agree, plus did you know that certain folks get vochures for furniture and such at a Salvation Army, plus Salvation Army is more convient for us out on LI.
Its still a great thing though.
I hope they have somebody who searches craigslist. They ALWAYS have free furniture going on there.

you can shoot them an email and suggest this...
OR
you can volunteer your time and search on Craigslist for them. I am sure they and all the families they serve would be most appreciative.
