I know its all about setting short term goals and that diet is the majority of weight loss. I have lost 50 pnds before so I get the protein carb thing. My q is.... How how how do u control hunger?(more emotionally than just diet advice) I need to eat every few hours or I get hypoglycemic but dang... My greek yogurt and almonds or string cheese and a few crackers just don't hold me. Is this bc I am soooo overweight and my body is at a set point? How do or did you restart weight loss when your body freaks out and rebels? ( And water doesn't help lol). Any thoughts or btdt advice???? I am just soooo over it kwim??? do you find that if you were very overweight then lost weight that you are still more hungry than your naturally thin counterparts?tia

I am struggling with this-- I try to drink a full glass of water before I eat. I also try to eat fruit and vegetables (0 points for most!!!) and fill up on that. My mindset is, I'm so hungry all the time, I'd rather eat the fruit and veg and eat more than eat much less of fried, fatty foods.
I also try to eat the little snacks here and there, so that it seems like I'm always eating. My BF just started me on protein shakes, I have one that is two points when you mix it with water and it tastes like cold hot chocolate. He makes his with frozen fruit and skim milk, and OMG it was delicious!
I lost 30 lbs last year (gained a lot back unfortunately) and I remember that eventually I got used to eating less, and at one point it seemed to me that I'd never be able to eat a lot again (boy was I wrong--but I let it happen!!). I was also at the point where if I ate fried food I'd have stomach problems the rest of the night.
It does get easier (I'm still waiting for that to happen--but it did last year, and I know it will again!) Sometimes I'd hit a plateau and not move for a week or two, but then it just restarted. I added working out and walking/jogging the Couch to 5K program, and that helped. Sometimes you can try alternating high carb days with low carb days, to sort of trick your body out of starvation mode. Are you doing WW?
Good luck!!! FM me if you want to maybe motivate each other!

I have found if I do a simple fast for 3 days (lots of water, fresh juices, maybe a bit of salmon or veggies if I REALLY get hungry) seems to lead to a major decrease in my appetite.
It almost is like a reset. Then I can start fresh and eat clean and healthy with little problems.

The only way I know how to control hunger is to not be hungry (please forgive me if that sounds like a sarcastic answer...its not how I mean for it to sound). I just eat good quality whole foods all day long, including plenty of healthy fats to curb those desires. You said 'emotional and not just diet advice'-so from an emotional point, I try to make sure I never eat my emotions. It is so easy to slip into the 'I'm sad, let me eat the ice cream', 'I'm stressed, lets go through the drive thru', etc. I log my food intake and I think its a good idea to write these things down along with how you were feeling and scale of hunger. You might find a pattern that you didn't even know existed.
From a dietary standpoint-make sure you are eating enough good quality calories. When people 'diet' they tend to go so low on calories that it really isn't enough food to sustain <I like that you said greek yogurt and almonds so I'm guessing you know what you should be eating(?)> I know there are plenty of plans out there...and they all work....as long as you find one that you can stick with and do for life. After years of yo-yo dieting, I started eating clean (about 8 years ago) and in the beginning I did it to a much lesser degree than the version I do now. But that changes as my goals change. Will I EVER eat like a thin person? The truth? Probably not. But those are the cards I've been dealt unfortunately and I have to do what I have to do to make the changes that I need to be physically content.
How do you start? You just need to want it bad enough. I work with people who typically need to first detox from their addictions (sugars, white flour, processed) and learn to fall in love with real food. To get out of the 'diet' mentality and make a lifestyle change.
Not sure if this helped...
