To Dine Or Not To Dine At MIL's Crib
Ok, as many of you know a while back MIL & I had a meeting where I told her how I felt about her. I have seen her at family GTGs but we just say hello and keep it moving. Well, I know we can't avoid each other forever. She invited "us"( since she can't just invite her son) to dinner. I want to be fair to DH because I know he wants to see them. Well, I said I would go but I don't know if I want to actually "eat" there....Am I being silly. Be honest!

I definitely think you should try to go. If for some reason things are too tense, you can always duck out early, but I think it would look bad if you didn't at least try.
ETA: I think I misinterpreted a bit. Yes, it would look really silly if you went and didn't eat.

Definitely try to eat there. It seems that your MIL is extending the olive branch and you should give dinner a chance, not only for your DH's sake but for yourself as well. Now that you've made you feelings clear to her, maybe things can make a move towards getting better.

I would eat there - make sure she tastes the food first.
Let her take the lead on the conversation.

It will be super uncomfortable. But I have to do it for DH, I guess.

I would go and depending on what's being served. Just kidding! I think you have to s*ck it up and play the role of good DIL for your DH's sake. Good luck and have the poison control center's phone number on hand.

Definitely go. This may be her way of trying to make amends. Give her a chance and if, it or she becomes unbearable, you can always leave early.

I totally agree. Sounds like she is at least trying, it can't hurt for you to do the same. Good luck.

I would go for the sake of DH. It may not be pleasant for me, but I do certain things for his sake, knowing that he will do certain things for me when he doesn't want to.
