you don't have to serve if you don't want to. you're off the hook until 2009.

if you served in 2002, you should be excused for 7 yrs. I served last year in Riverhead and that's what they told me. they gave me some kind of stub for proof that I served.
did you keep the stub?

Re: To make this time MORE stressful; I got JURY DUTY!
I just got jury duty for the same time ou did. I served in June. I called the number on the paper and she told me to mail in part A and tell them when you served last and that you were called again. Also, she told me to write if the name and address was the same the last time you served. If yours was pre marriage that maybe why you were called again. For me, I told her that was not the case and then she told me to write it was the same. She said it may be a fluke and they will research it on their ends. Just thought Id pass along the info I received today!

Re: To make this time MORE stressful; I got JURY DUTY!
I don't think there are limits on when you can be called - or maybe there are for each type of court ...
I was called in Oct 2005 to Riverhead for a day and then got a summons in August for Federal Court (in Bklyn). I was able to defer and now I've been on telephone standby this week to serve in West Islip.
