Today is Earth Day
Today is Earth Day...
Would you say you're one of those people that care for the environment?
Do you buy earth friendly cleaning products, take your own bags/tots to the food store, recycle etc.

Re: Earth Day 2008 is tomorrow?
I'm trying. We recycle, I'm replacing all my bulbs with CFL, I'm getting solar panels for the house as part of our renovation. I'm looking into "green" building materials when possible for the reno. Bamboo flooring for the office, etc.
I'm far from "green", but I'm trying.....

Re: Earth Day 2008 is tomorrow?
We are trying lately. Replaced our bulbs, switched to green cleaners and fertilized our lawn with organic fertilizer for the past 2 years. I guess every little bit helps...

Re: Earth Day 2008 is tomorrow?
Yes I am. We have made a change in my house. We conserve water, electricity, changed our cleaning supplies to greener ones. We use canvas bags when possible and when we don't we always always reuse our plastic bags. We reduced our garbage...no more paper plates or cups. We also freecycle and recycle.

I think I do okay. Greener than many, not as green as some.

I've always tried to be environmentally friendly. I think I do my part, tho I'm not as green as others.

Re: Earth Day 2008 is tomorrow?
i try my best but i know there is more that i could do, its funny because many of my friends ask me about proper recycling and ways to be more earth friendly and i feel there is so much i don't know
eta i am a fanatic about recycling my garbage, i bring my totes to the stores, i use more earth friendly cleaning products, and am trying to get dh to switch the lightbulbs but we have a lot of light fixtures that require special bulbs, i plan on doing a lot when and if we ever buy a house

Re: Earth Day 2008 is tomorrow?
I try! I do use the canvas bags and once in a while I will reuse plastic bags (for dirty diapers & cat litter). I recycle cans. Try to leave all lights off during the day until the sun goes down.

I stopped buying bottled water and now have the Brita water filtration systems. isn't Brita the best!??? I LOVE it
and the filters are so reasonable. $20 for a 4 pack, and then minus 20% at B,B&B
eta: the first filter lasted us almost 3 months. so a 4 pack will last us about a yr.

I saw that but then I saw what they were going for on ebay... 10 for 19.99 plus shipping.

either way - it's SOOOOO much cheaper (and lighter) than buying bottled water!
and since I am a Crystal Light addict, it's nice being able to use that water freely when I make a new pitcher.

greenfreak got under my skin with her green awareness so now I put forth an effort. I take a backpack or messenger bag to run errands so I don't have to get plastic bags.

Re: Today is Earth Day
We do what we can, but realistically, its hard to turn years of non-green habits into green ones. Im sure it will get better in our household over time - it already has.

Re: Today is Earth Day
We're working on it.
We've stopped buying bottled water and intead use a Britta filter and refill the couple of bottles I kept.
We've started to switch cleaners.
We seperate our garbage for recycling days.
I wouldn't say we're green by any stretch of the imagination, but we're doing what we currently can.
