Today is my 1st IVF consult...*Update*
and I am a bit nervous...going to see gregory zapantis at his new practice and we shall see what he says...is there anything I should expect? I am in my 2WW for my 5th IUI so this will only be a consult..I have a list of questions to ask...I dont have all of my medical records from NSUH but I do have my RSNY records that I will bring from the 2 IUIs I had done there.
I really hope we dont have to go the IVF route...

good luck!
since you are in your 2ww you will probably only speak with the RE regarding your medical history and what to expect with IVF.
i dont think they would do an exam or blood work on you at this time.

Good luck!! At my IVF consults, we just discussed protocols... potential reasons for a past cycle causing a miscarriage... and what we will do differently.

Re: Today is my 1st IVF consult...*Update*
It went well we spoke for probably 90 min on what the process would be and my current issues...he is a big proponent of single embryo transfer and no ICSI unless necessary...I dont know how I feel about that...I asked why he left ECF and he basically said that it became too bureaucratic...I think I am going to cancel my appt with LI-IVF since he said if I didnt like RSNY that I prob would not like LI-IVF...the other thing that I was a bit weary on was that he didnt have his own lab so I would need to go to RSNY or NSUH for ER & ET...his monitoring hrs are great...they start at 6AM...I have my 2nd IVF consult with NSUH on 5/14 so we shall see how that goes...

glad it went well!!
i wouldnt worry too much about the lab thing, it's not terribly uncommon. Dr. B works the same way and you have to go to the city for ER/ET.
out of curiosity why would he prefer no ICSI?

He said that he prefers that the process be natural and only if its absolutely necessary ICSI would be used...I think he said based on research that embryos that did not utilize ICSI resulted in higher pregnancy rates/better embryos and that too many docs just do it when it may not be necessary

I am so glad you went and got your questions answered! Why not try the other places for consult? Ya never know ;) I just couldn't imagine having to go somewhere else for my lab stuff an procedures, especially when the nurses get to know you and answer all of your questions, etc.
Before your Hershlag consult, watch the DVD they gave you at the beginning (the one with the feet sticking out of the covers) so you don't have to watch it in the office. You learn more from LIFamilies.com anyway!

Re: Today is my 1st IVF consult...*Update*
I'd definitely go for more consults. IMO and from my experience, the more the merrier. Not all Doctors are the same, even the ones that are part of a big practice. If you have to go the IVF route, you visit the Dr. often for monitoring, ER, transfer, etc.
Also, just a heads up. I know that you mentioned that the Dr. liked a more of a natural protocol. Sometimes that's not the best for everyone, including me! He pushed me to make the decision to miscarry naturally once, the second time I refused and asked for a D&C. So after three miscarriages (two under his care) he never did the appropriate testing. Maybe this was part of his "natural" approach but I felt like I wasted my time with him and that he was unprofessional.
Either way, lots of luck with your consults!
