Toddler "Acting out" after newborn comes home

Nina is a good girl overall and has showed really no interest in Luke or jealousy BUT the last two days she is really starting to act out. Like last night she just screamed and screamed and screamed for no reason. She took the dogs water bowl and threw it across the kitchen, then she took her drink and dumped it on the floor and then laughed at us when we try to discipline her. Is this because of the new baby or because she is almost 2? We are trying to give her as much attention as we can. DH has been great, he plays with her all day long while I nurse and pump and clean, do you think she is maybe upset with me?

IMO, it probably is both, but most likely b/c she is almost two.

Obviously, we only have one kid, but Christopher does stuff like that, I think it just normal, annoying, 2 year old behaviorChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

my ds is doing the same thing.. Temper tantrums during dinner, not letting anyone else hold him but me and whenever i am feeding dd, he must have a bottle as well and sit right next to me and eat it.. My ds i 11 months old but it seems to be the same thing!!

I'm sure it will taper off soon!

Reilly is 16mos and just started this too! It's like she figured out that Zoe is staying with us and is not thrilled. Sometimes she comes over to us when I am feeding her and will touch Zoe's foot gently like we are teaching her and then other times, she is throwing huge tantrums and is trying to rip the bottle out of the baby's mouth! Yep....search my posts, you'll see I wrote the same post myself. Noah is a great kid, and he turned into a great big PITA Chat Icon ...

It lasted about 6 weeks or so and then now at 4 months in, he is great with them and only the occasional tantrum...

I think its normal and I'm almost positive it will stop once she is adjusted. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

oh I dunno...my sisters are Irish twins....this caused HUGE issues as they got older.Chat Icon

I know, everyone's experience is different. I just laugh about it...oooh the jealousy, the resentment over going everywhere together, doing the same things, hand-me-downs, the 1st born getting more pictures taken than the 2nd born, the 2nd born not having pictures ALONE...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My sisters are now 40 and 41...and they're still not over it!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

And then there's me, the baby.Chat Icon I had no problems.Chat Icon

Oh duh...but you've got a girl and a boy...I doubt it would have been THIS dramatic!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon for you! I dread this happening if we ever have a #2!!!

it is both (age and newborn "jealousy")

went through the same with miki, she is better now but still having some sleeping issues. Best thing is to let her be involved with the baby and be consistent with the discipline Chat Icon

Re: Toddler "Acting out" after newborn comes home

Sounds more like attention if she is all of a sudden behaving this way. I would just give her attention for the behaviors you want her to do, and try to undereact with the other stuff Chat Icon
