Toddler and Dentist Cleaning Tomorrow
Mason is getting a cleaning tomorrow. He didn't do so well when we had his first check up. The Dentist was great, but Mason gets defensive with his mouth so he was hysterical. I felt so bad the whole time and the Dentist was fast and nice. He even sat with me.
Any advise? How did it go with your toddler's first cleaning?
Sooo not looking forward to this? My poor Mason gets upset and he starts saying, "Go home mommy"

Re: Toddler and Dentist Cleaning Tomorrow
maybe start preparing him for it already. Try to explain what's going to happen and try to show him with his own tooth brush. I did this with my daughter last year and it went very well, but this year wasn't so great because they decided half way threw to try and use the suction on her, well that was the end of there good patient...lol Good luck, hope it goes well

My girls don't do well with that sort of thing but they loved our dentist. She was really great with them. Before she did anything she showed them how the seat goes up and down, then she showed them how the water squirts into the cup and let them squirt it. She suctioned up the water and showed them how that works. Before she did anything she told them what she was going to do and showed it to them. She showed them mirrors and had them open wide etc. They went in terrified and left asking to go back. This is a family dentist not a ped - but she has children of her own but they are much older (high school for the youngest).
