toddler moms- when you child wakes in the night- do you go to them?
or let them cry? Just wondering, cause some times Bryan wakes up and its very hard in the night not to just get him and bring him into bed with us. I cant fall back asleep when he is crying in the other room.

I do go to her, but I never pick her up. Most of the time it's to give her a binky back
She has been waking at 5 am every day with her molars coming in, so DH or I put some Orajel on and give her the binky back...
When you are dead asleep it's hard to let them CIO, but we do let her go when we know she isn't teething or sic (which is hardly ever anymore)

Yes, the only time she wakes up at night is when she's sick so I'll go in.

It depends on the type of cry... if it's just a "I woke up and can't fall back asleep" cry, no I won't get her, but if it's a "mommy I'm scared, or mommy I don't feel well" cry, I definitely will. THere are times when she wakes up for a millisecond, cries and falls back asleep, a few times a night... it's usually when she's teething, and after the third time or so I go in and give her some motrin.

Not immediately. I usually give her a couple of minutes. No more than 5 though. I don't usually bring her in bed with us though, I will cuddle her and rock her back to sleep. She was sick last weekend though and did come into bed with us and actually go to sleep.

sometimes...depends on the situation
if he is crying with his eyes closed and still laying down then I usually just let him be
when his molars were coming in we watched Abby on Sesame Street turning a toaster into a pumpkin for 2 hours almost every night

I have the 2 minute rule. I wait and see what happens. More often than not, he will just get back in his bed (he is in a toddler bed but has a gate on his door so he can't get out). If he's still crying after 2 minutes, which seems like 2 hours, I get up, go to his room, and talk him back into bed. I'll rub his back for a few minutes and tell him its still night time and I need to go do my sleepies. Works like a charm.
I don't even want to jinx it, but Lauren hasn't woken up at night since she was 3 months old

We wait a few minutes and then go in - but if we wait too long - we know it will be harder to get him back so usually the wait is 3-5 minutes. If he doesn't fall back on his own we go in. We don't pick him up for the most part. Usually settle him down with words, give him a hug and tell him time to sleep and he'll usually dive for the pillow himself - sometimes it takes 10 minutes but sometimes it takes an hour or more to get him back. We bring a chair and sit by the side of his crib.

Sometimes he wakes, cries for a second, and is back to sleep. If he's really crying, or asking for mama or dada, we go in and usually find him standing in his crib. We just give him a hug and a kiss, he lies down and I rub his back a little. I tell him it's night time, it's dark outside, it's time to sleep and he calms down and goes back to sleep.
