Toddler Moms!!! WHY won't my child nap anymore???
She turned 2 in July so I thought it was too early for her to give up napping? She is clearly tired (yawning, rubbing eyes, cranky etc). I put her in the crib and she will stay there for 1 1/2 - 2 hours playing/crying/playing/crying. And when I first leave the room she goes into hysterical screaming.
And now on the occasional days that she falls asleep in the car I can't even transfer her anymore!!!
And if she actually by some miracle falls asleep (usually about an hour into being in the crib) she wakes up after 30-45 mins!!!!
Is it just terrible 2 behavior to fight EVERYTHING or is she ready to give up napping?
Plus when she doesn't nap she is a wreck for the rest of the day (and so am I)

Are you bringing her to any GTGs anytime soon? Cause I don't want her talking to Jake and giving him any ideas that giving up napping is ok now that they are two!
Kidding aside, has her nightime sleeping changed? Jake definitely goes through phases now where he's up earlier, naps less, or naps more and sleeps more at night. There have been days where he just lays in the crib at naptime and never really falls asleep. But he hasn't given up the nap yet and I honestly don't think it's time yet. I need at least another solid year of naps.
I think it could be a phase, I think sugar plays a role, and so does bedtime. Try changing her bedtime by 20-30 min increments (try both ways - earlier and later). Yes, they do require somewhat less sleep now than when they were infants, but they still could use a nap.

I'd love to bring her to a GTG but I live upstate now But she would probably teach some of her tricks that drive me nuts to the other kids
But I've been really thinking about our schedule and I think maybe I'm not running her around enough in the am to tire her out. And maybe I'm not being consistent enough with her nap and bed times
I aim for crib time to be at 1:00 but sometimes if she won't cooperate I can't even get her in till 2:00 (i have to change her into backwards PJs for naptime or we could have another one of her poop smearing incidents)
And bedtime is 8/8:30. If no nap than 7:30.
What time does Jake nap and go to bed for the night?

Re: Toddler Moms!!! WHY won't my child nap anymore???
My DD has been fighting naps lately. honestly, the only time she seems to sleep lately is in the car - - so Ive been leaving a magazine in the car and sitting in the driveway for awhile to let her nap if shes fallen alseep while we are out. Might sound crazy but it prevents us from having a day from he!!

I would do that but I work from home so I need to be on the phone and at the computer with my files during her nap time.
I hope this gets better
