i know he has dyslexia... but when else has he really been through? I mean, as far as we can see, his life seems pretty honky-dory....

Re: Tom Cruise on Oprah
I cannot stand him and his scientology BS. As someone who was diagnosed with a panic disorder when they were 8 and has been suffering from it since, I took his remarks to Matt Lauer (sp?) regarding "mental illness" very personally.
I think he is quite possibly one of the most arrogant yet ignorant people on the face of this earth

This guy I used to work with at my last job told me he went to the scientology center they have in the city with a friend of his. He had just got out of drug rehab and they wanted to "take him under their wing" and help him. They brought him to some type of a ranch in the mid-west somewhere but than wouldnt let him leave. He basically had to run-away and set up an escape plan and have a friend of his help him get away. They wouldnt let him make any phone calls until he said his mother would give them $10,000.
I know it sounds completely outrageous, but this is honestly a true story. He said it was the most bizarre place he had ever been. The best was they thought he looked like L. Ron Hubbard (the founder of scientology) and while at the ranch (or cult like he called it...lol) they called him the "chosen one" b/c of this.
ETA: This happened to him when he was in his 40's. So he wasn't a kid either.

See I watched this too and wanted to like him, but still found him just incredibly weird. Seems like he had a "perfect" answer for everything and was kind of contrived.

We watched a thing on 20/20 or one of those shows about a year ago how this family was really into Scientology, the parents were even Officers in Scientolgy, and their teenage son had mental health problems. They tried the "Scientology way" of fixing his mental health problems, it didnt' work, the church eventually ostracized him because of it, and he killed his mother.

Add irresponsible to the list of things that he is... doesn't he realize how much of an "icon" he is to some people who linger on every word celebs utter... with all of the BS he's spwed about physologists and mental illness and the medication perscribed to combat them, he is endagering, IMO, the people that look to him as a "reliable source of information".
I'll watch at 7.

i have never really had a problem with him, yeah so what if he really believes in his faith, many other people do and they fight for what they believe in.

I didn't really listen to what he was saying - too distracted by his hotness not ashamed to admit it - I have always had such a crush on him!

Re: Tom Cruise on Oprah
Somehow, I doubt there is anything "rough and tumble" about Tom Cruise's life.
I didn't watch the Oprah show, but it seems like it's just damage control - what was the last movie he made and how many people went to see it?

I like him... I think he was just voicing his opinion, honestly feeling like he was helping others by offering an alternative to medicine.
that religion sounds better then the one sending people out trying to save me or else.

I totally agree with this!
I just watched the first 10 minutes (online) and he seems normal so far...but why did Katie havve to say "I Love You" 3 times before she left?
ETA: Anyone see Jerry O'Connel's spoof of the indoctrination video?
It's an HONOR to be an actor...

He's a public figure, and he had to know that it was going to be leaked.
If 'alot of the video was not meant for people to see' then he shouldn't have done it. Especially if he was so *concerned* about how people viewed him and his loyalty to Scientology.

accoridng to what he said on oprah that video was made for a class given to his parish (for lack of a better word--i dont know what scientologitsts call the followers)...so then it makes sense that he would be preaching so to speak..
he also made a coment that when he wouldnt talk about scientology he was quoted as been secretive and hidden and when he did talk about it he was seen as being preachy...so i dont think he can win to be honest..
i feel worse for his little girl who hasta endure nasty comments then i do for him,.

i don't feel bad for him at all. he needs psychological help. nothing he said in that video made sense. um, i am not going to help an accident victim b/c i am not a scientologist? no, you wack job, it doesn't work like that.
seriously - i don't think scientology is a belief system, it is a weird-azz cult. but that's JMO.

If anyone approaches you with an L. Ron Hubbard book say no thanks... And run
