Too much sleeping??? Cause for concern?

Sydnie has never been sick, thank God. she does have a slight cold the last few days. we were at the doctor yesterday and they said she's OK, run the humidifier and use saline drops. We are doing that. But she is sleeping soooo much? Is that normal? I know when they are sick they will sleep but wow! She is also 6 months yesterday, nmaybe a growth spurt too?

She slept from 7-3
3 am bottle-back to sleep
6:30 am bottle- back to sleep
9 am-11 am Up/Play/Eat
11-12 Sleep
12-1:20- Up/Play/Eat
1:20 back to sleep!

Cause for concern or am I just being paranoid?

I must be honest- the dry drowning is always in the back of my mind and I know they get VERY sleepy with that. Chat Icon

Re: Too much sleeping??? Cause for concern?

My DD at six months was sleeping thru the night...no bottles.

She would get up around 6-7 am and take 2-1 hours naps (sometimes 2 hours).

Completely normal.

This sounds like pretty typical sleep for a child DCs age, maybe a bit more than usual, but not extreme.

DS has been sick a few times, and maybe it's his disposition, but you know it when he is pretty sick, no mistaking it, he makes his misery known, and I think most babies do.

I'm not sure why you are worried about dry drowning? The humidifier won't do that, and it doesn't sound as if she is extremely congested.

She's probably going through a growth spurt - enjoy it!

Seriously, dry drowning doesn't typically happen from a regular bath. Get that out of your head!!! She would have to take a huge mouthful of water and inhale it. At 22 months, Cailen drinks more bath water and chokes on it then you could ever imagine! He is a crazy, splashy fish. Chat Icon

Agreed. It doesn't even happen often in a swimming pool, though there is some chance there.

I think all Moms develop a fear of something sooner or later though. I remember being worried that DS would somehow bust out of his pack n play while I was showering and fall down the stairs (this was before we had gates).
