Took my one hour glucose test on Thursday

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Not great, but I survived....The lab tech told me on Monday that I had to fast for 12 hours before the test. I can't fast because I have Hypoglycemia. My OB told me to eat before I go. So I ate 2 scrambled eggs early in the morning. I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 230am. Stomach was hurting so bad because I was hungry. I finally gave in around 600 and ate. My blood sugar was 51. After I ate, I drank a lot of water...I waited until 745am to go to the lab. My blood sugar was 81 when I got there. When the lab tech asked me if I was fasting, stupid me said no. ...She was like, I can't do a fasting test, I can only do a non-fasting test. I have no idea what the difference is. I figured she was going to send me home. But she handed me the drink and that was it. There was another woman there having her three hour done. And then another woman came in for her 1 hour. Her dr. told her to eat normally before her test. Some places say fast and others don't for the same test. WHo is right and who is wrong. I forgot to ask what the cutoff is for a non-fasting test. I took my blood sugar as soon as I got into the parking lot. It was 142....I will find out in a few days whether I failed or not..

I can't believe the differences between some of the labs & doctors offices. My doctor didn't tell me to fast for my one hour, but the lab marked it as fasting.
I wish they'd all get their act together!

I hope you passed! For the 3 hr you will need to fast.

my dr. didnt tell me either. i got to quest and AFTER i drank the crap they asked when was the last time i ate. luckily i hadnt eaten for 12 hours anyway, but seriously...no one knows what they're doing.

when I took the one hour it was in the evening after a normal day of eating. The one hour is supposed to be more of a "random" test.

For the 3 hour you have to fast for 12 hours, there is no choice. Some places do let you have water.
