toothpaste with fluoride - what age?
what age did the ped and/or dentist okay fluoride toothpaste? DD had her first dental visit today and the dentist said i can continue with non fluoride toothpaste as long as DD takes vitamins with fluoride (in our jersey town we don't have fluoridated water). she said to consult the ped whether or not to increase the fluoride in the vitamins.

my friend is a pediatric dentist and says real toothpaste when they are able to spit it out. until then water or training toothpaste.

they have to be able to spit out properly ...until then use the training toothpaste without flouride.

My DS is 3 and I still have him use the training toothpaste. I tried the fluoridated one, but even though he knows how to spit I think he likes the taste of it and I'm afraid he'll still be swallowing most of it. I think he would eat it out of the tube if I let him.

DD just turned 3. she cant spit "right" and winds up swallowing still...thats why I am sticking with the training paste for now.
