DD is just turning 7 months, and I'm soo nervous..dr said a stale bagel is good for teething, but wanted for her to practice some of the other foods to chew...

Re: What age did you start puffs and other finger foods?
We tried puffs the other day, DD was 7.5 mths. She spit them out. Thank God b/c I got nervous after she put it in her mouth. We just wanted to see what she would do and if she had the pincher grasp down (she did) and if she could make it into her mouth with it. But she spit it out and I was glad. LOL
I dont know whenI will try again.

I still watch her like a hawk when she is eating them, but she loves to eat "real" foods. Baby food is just not her thing. I would be afraid of a bagel because of the pieces that could break off.

We are alot alike, trust me. That's why I always love your ?s.
DH and I tried the puffs too. They do melt but you do have to use your tongue a bit for it to dissolve/go down, that's why I got nervous.
I can tell you our dogs LOVE them, since DD was dropping them on teh floor.

This is not something I'm looking forward too as she was holding onto a bagel the other day and our chocolate lab was standing at attention waiting for the bagel

Re: What age did you start puffs and other finger foods?
6 months - when he was sitting unsupported
I would put 1 or 2 on his highchair tray so he could start picking things up on his own and feeding himself.
I know choking is a major concern (as it was for me too), but honestly the puffs melt SO fast, they would have to have a TON in their mouth to choke.

Re: What age did you start puffs and other finger foods?
We started giving them to her at 6 months or so but she showed and continued to show no interest until yesterday (10 and a half months) when she put a Zwieback in her mouth for the first time. She is late with that and we are talking to the pediatrician about it tomorrow after a weight check.
