Toronto? Not a vacation or travel question!
Hi all, I'm a regular poster trying to avoid lurkers. Can anyone tell me about Toronto and the surrounding areas? My family and I might be relocating, and I'd love to learn about the area from more than just travel websites LOL. Thanks!

I'm from Toronto originally and would be happy to answer any questions you have, feel free to FM me more about what sorts of info you are looking for and I'll do my best to help out!
It's a great city and I love it - it really was a wonderful place to grow up!

Re: Toronto? Not a vacation or travel question!
I guess what I am looking for is what the weather is like year-round (compared to New York) and what the cost of living is, also compared to NY. I have two children, so I'd be looking for things to do with them and places to go. I am not sure where we would be living, is there a big difference between the city itself and the suburbs?

Re: Toronto? Not a vacation or travel question!
weather im guessing is similar from what i have read on here. snow all winter lol hot and very humid in the summer can have smog warnings in the summer. warmest months are july and aug. coldest dec-feb. lots of things to do for kids we have taken trips there for things to do. zoo, science centre, cn tower, ball games, hockey games etc. in the summer you are close to cottage country so its always nice to get a cottage in the muskokas or somewhere and have a little vacation! i think a lot of families live in the surrounding cities. Markham, Baysville etc. cost...just guessing again but similar or cheaper than NY but i cant be sure since i have never lived in NY the previous poster can prob help more with that! I live in a small town compared to TO so its huge to me with tons of things to do! its a great place to live though, i know quite a few ppl that grew up where i live and have moved up there, i also have family up there! i personally from living in a smaller town in Ontario would look at the out lying areas of TO and not live in the city itself...im sure you can get more for your money living just outside the city. GL!
