Totally random toilet seat question...

What is the deal with those seats that don't go all the way around?? You know, the front is open a bit. Usually you see them in public places, but my sister has one at her house!!

Anyway, what's the point of that opening?

maybe so that when guys sit down, their member doesn't bang into the front part of the seat.

My potty trained 4-year old pointed that kind of seat out last week on a potty run at Macy's. He matter-of-factly told me it was so he didn't have to lift the seat when he pees. Chat Icon

Sounds good to me Chat Icon

no, depending upon the size of the opening in the seat, it may get in the way. unless you're hung like a horse it's doubtful you'll hit porcelain

Re: Totally random toilet seat question...

i read something online about how it's more sanitary and liquid (yikes) can more easily drib down in that opening.

Ok, yuck...I'm totally grossed out now.

That's what I always figured it was for. Keeps any dripping off the seat, so it's cleaner for the ladies. Haven't seen one in a house before, though.
