Totally unprepared for this...evaluation by specialist at daycare
So we had the EC Specialist come in to the daycare and she called me afterwards.
I am in total shock...you all know the story but I never expected this...
The specialist was "impressed with the center and the staff"

Wow!!!! Honestly Ang, if you still dont feel comfortable or that they are giving Lucas the attention and care they should be I would still take him out and put him in another center.
Was this an announced visit, one the center could prepare for?

Yes - we are not comfortable with this center and he is on a waiting list.
This was an announced visit - planned for 2 weeks now. They clearly were prepared.

That stinks that it was planned.
It should have totally been a "surprise" visit considering the circumstances.

It certainly does, they had time to prepare. You have to do what is best for your little one

In one way it is frustrating especially because my child had to be the one they "learned" from. Also that I had to be the one to get the specialist in to give them resources and materials. She is coming back on Friday to teach them hands on activities like making playdoh.
So from my perspective it looks like they cleaned up their act...I just don't know how long.
And at the end of the day I have to ask myself - would I rather have had the specialist tell me it's an awful place and to get my son out ASAP? The truthful answer is no. If I had to chose I would rater that they impress her but in my heart I know it's an act...or at least too late of an effort.
We will be out of there soon..I hope.

I am not sure how these things go but i am sure that these "specialists" called ahead of time and arrainged a time to have their observations (even if it is a general time frame. For some reason i HIGHLY doubt this was a total surprise to them. And if they were prepared, well then a stellar eval isn't all that surprising.

wow! i am baffled. i know from experience that most centers wont accept surprise visits fro evaluators. it seems like they may have prepared for your visit. i would definitely request an additional visit. you really cant base an eval on one visit.
