Any daycare moms have parent's who are totally

...against the fact that you put their grandchild/children in daycare?

MY mom, father and MIL dont like the idea of it all. I am always like its not your child and you dont pay my bills so why are you putting your damn 2 cents in. And my MIL shouldn't have crap to say she is the one that wants me to have all the kids and if she is really worried about it then she should move to PA to babysit them.

Geezzzzzzzz it just urks me.

My mom is fine with it.
My MIL, on the other hand, kinda made a face when we said we were going to put Gavin in DC.
She was all upset about us spending so much $$, she kept saying to only put him in a few days and she would watch him 2 days when she watches my nephew.....somethingI DIDN'T want.
Thankfully I didn't have to face that issue because when you're a newborn, you HAVE to oay for 5 days, so he may as well be in there for 5 days, getting exposed to all new things and people.

I am a big proponent for daycare, for the kids and parents sanity.......Chat Icon

I concur. No, neither my parents or my in-laws have anything critical to say about our child care arrangements-except to comment on how much it costs (they can't believe it is so high) and that they wish they live closer so they could help out. I haven't told them that even if they did live closer I would still have DD in daycare at least most of the day because I like all the benefits of it.

I am not a daycare mom BUT I wanted to respond b/c I know what you are going through.

When I was researching daycares and talking about it with parents, they were all upset. I think not as many babies were in daycare years ago and its hard for some people to understand why people do it.

My mom kept saying "i just don't understand how you can put a tiny infant in a strangers hands". My grandmother was even worse. My inlaws kept saying "if you can make it work, its really best for you to be with him".

I would be in tears after hanging up with them because I really did want to be home but we felt at the time we didn't have a choice and I knew it wasn't the worst thing in the world!! I was able to be home with him and then of course all was ok with the world Chat Icon

Sometimes you have to ingnore the comments. When they see how great your kids are doing they'll warm up, but the negative comments really hurt...I swear never to do that to my kids!

I luckily haven't gotten and shyte from my family or DHs for our daycare decision. Everyone, including us, isn't thrilled he has to go a full 5 days a week--we'd prefer it it was part time. And when he gets sick, everyone, including us, makes the "Friggin daycare" comment. But no one ever made us feel like we weren't doing the right/best thing for us and they've even made comments about the great things he's come away with from daycare. Maybe stressing those good points, like less stranger anxiety (so he won't cry when the family he doesn't see as often comes to play with him) and playing well with other children and learning the concept of sharing from the beginning.
