Touching the belly
So what are your thoughts? I have friends that HATED when people touched their stomach. I always thought I would hate it as well. Now that I'm pregnant, my coworkers are always touching my stomach and it doesn't bother me AT ALL.
I'm curious to see who likes it or doesn't like it. I haven't had a complete stranger touch my stomach...that would probably bother me.

Re: Touching the belly
It depends on who. Generally unless we are almost family close, it is not cool. I hate being touched though.

I'm really not a fan. I won't be mean, but I just rather not be touched by anyone except DS and DH lol.

yeah I feel like this too. I dont mind our moms or DH but others i deal with but makes me feel uncomfortable
One lady at work - she is the nicest person but she bothers me a bit because every time I see her she runs up and rubs my belly and says awww beautiful baby and does smoochy noises. I know she means well and it is cute, but it is kinda wierd.

Re: Touching the belly
Well I have to say it depends on who, a close friend or family member dosnt bother me. A coworker I am not close with is weird to me...especially when they are all up on you over it. I also had a freaky patient who wanted to touch my belly and pray with me, and I felt bad but I literally had to take a step back so that he wouldnt touch me. It really weirded me out!

Re: Touching the belly
It depends on who it is I guess. I don't mind when DH touches me at all. Or if it is my BFF. If random strangers tried to touch me I would be ****** off. MIL has a bad habit of constantly touching me, and it makes me so mad. My own mother doesn't just grab at me. It got so bad at one point FSIL told her to back away from the belly. I might have to order one of those shirts. It isn't so much that she is touching me but she does it at inappropriate times.

Re: Touching the belly
i honestly thought i would hate it and i dont!! of course if a stranger did it i would be grossed out.
sometimes my MIL will have her hand on my belly for like a minute or so as i tell her about the baby and i dont even notice
the other day was the first time that a friend rubbed my belly and i almost teared up, it was so endearing for some reason

Re: Touching the belly
Oh hellz no! I can't stand it. I feel like they are feeling for chub. I'm very self conscious about my stomach to begin with. Pre-pregnancy I used to hate that when I sat down it would kind of spread out and look flabby!
Not to mention that I really dont' have a "baby" belly yet. It looks more like I ate too much.
I don't even like to touch my OWN belly. It grosses me out. So keep your hands to yourself please!

Family members and friends are welcome, as long as they ask first. If you don't ask, be prepared for me to touch your belly.
And under all circumstances, do not touch my belly AFTER giving birth.

Re: Touching the belly
With DS I didn't care at all who touched me! I am much, much more moody this time around and I don't want to be touched at all (but I don't say a word if someone does).

Re: Touching the belly
No thanks.
I don't feeling comfortable with anyone putting their hands on my belly...heck I'm uneasy about DH touching the flab thats there
Maybe I will differently once my belly fills out & I actually look pregnant as opposed to just fat.
Right now though keep your hands away from me.

Re: Touching the belly
I don't mind as long as I actually HAVE a belly to touch. I hate when my mother (yes, my own mother's touch is annoying) grabbed my belly in the first trimester... you're grabbing the cupcake I just ate, not your grandchild who is .00000001 inches tall right now.
But now that I'm obviously showing it doesn't bother me as much.

That's my policy too. If you ask first then I'm generally okay with it. If you touch without permission then I'm going to rub yours back.
