training a 1 yr old dog
My bf and I adopted a black lab from a local shelter. She is 1 years old and adorable. She has relieved herself many times in the house, is it possible to train a one year old dog? ALso please give me some tips, thanks.

You definitely can train a one year old dog. I would recommend getting a trainer. We used and loved Bark Busters!
Congrats on adopting

It's definitely possible - Misty was 8 months when we got her.
And the going to the bathroom may be because she is thrown off by being in a new environment. We had that problem when we first got Misty and again for a few days when we moved to the house.

YES! Definitely possible. When she has an accident in the house, put her leash on immediately and bring her outside. She is only going in the house because no one has taught her any better. When you take her outside bring a treat. Eventually she will make the connection between being rewarded and going outside.
Congrats on your new baby!

Re: training a 1 yr old dog
most def possible! When we adopted Morgan she was around 7 mths old.
I would recommend crate training for when your not home...this is will aid in house breaking (if she is not already)
Patience...and lots of it...remember this is new to her too...its an adjustment on both parts, while training be patient and loving, but also stern..so she will learn that she has to follow your rules and schedule.
lots of toys and excersice...
I would also recommend that if you have the money to hire a dog trainer...we had our older dog Jessi professionally trained and it was a great experience...worth the $$ and it was a great bonding experience for all. She is an amazing dog and has even helped out with training her two younger sisters. Highly recommend Best Friends Dog Training www.muttmanners.com
