Transitioning from breastmilk to cows milk (Esp. if EBF)
DS just turned one and I wanted to start the transition to cows milk. I have exclusively breastfed so other than a few days when he was 2 1/2 months, he has never taken milk from a bottle. I gave DS cows milk in a straw cup last week and he took a couple of sips and spit it out. It was cold so i figured i would try warming it next time, which I did yesterday. Again, he spit it out and started gagging and acting like he was going to throw up. So, today I put breastmilk in the straw cup and same thing - he spit it out.
Please share your experiences and successes for this transition. I am at a loss. I hate seeing him spit out breastmilk considering i do not get that much out when I pump anymore.

Both my kids wouldn't drink cows milk at all so what I did was mix it with drinkable yogurt and that did the trick. I would also just keep trying. He will get it eventually

I had to stop suddenly due to a medication issue so Liam didn't have a choice. He did have some issues because BM is sweeter. Honestly, he was refusing it totally so I mixed a teeny tiny bit of chocolate in it. I faded it after he drank it and he was on milk after about a week.
May not be the best choice but, it worked for us.

Re: Transitioning from breastmilk to cows milk (Esp. if EBF)
sorry i cant be of much help. I EBF and at 11.5 months started to transition to cows milk. I started with one feeding a day. first time, she didnt really like it and i didnt force it. 2nd day, she took to it better. I left it out for her to grab whenever she wanted but she didnt drink it in one sitting (still doesnt). after another day she was fine with it. have you just tried to leave it out for him? eventually he'll probably get thirsty and just drink it. does he get a straw cup for other liquids?
