Transporting a dog from Florida to NY
My aunt's dog is 22 pounds, so she is over the airline weight to bring her on the plane. We don't have anyone to drive her dog up. Does anyone know of other ways to get her dog up to NY? The new pet airline is charging $800 for a one way flight. Just thought I could get some ideas from here.

Is she over the weight to bring her in the cabin and cargo part of the plane?
I know having the pet travel in cargo is not the preferred method but if that is your only option you may have to do that.

is the dog a compact 22lbs?
i know that the "limit" is 15lbs, but no one actually weighs the dog. if the dog fits into a standard size carrier, they won't know the difference.
my sophie was 18-19lbs in her later years, and we still took her on flights all the time...
I was just going to ask this...my sister brought her dog on Jet blue and he's 30lbs but hes a french bulldog so he's compact and fits under the seat.....he never got weighed

You can crate the dog and fly her up on your flight with you. i have done this many times and it works out great.
