Travel insurance for pregnant women

I will be 8 months pregnant when we want to go to California to visit friends. It has already been cleared by my doctor, as long as I am feeling well.

Just in case, I thought it would be a good idea to get trip insurance, but all of the ones I'm looking at have a stipulation that say it is not covered if you go on bed rest.

Has anyone ever purchased trip insurance while pregnant? What company did you use?

They will only cover "pre-existing conditions" if you book the trip insurance within 14 days of your first trip payment. For us, this was our flights so we had to make sure we booked within 14 days of that.

You can book online but I called and spoke to the rep because I had A LOT of questions. Basically it covers trip cancellation insurance (a doctors note that you can't go for medical reasons counts) and trip interruption insurance (if you need to cut your trip short for a medical reason) for the amount you designate as well as medical coverage and emergency transport. Pregnancy is excluded but this means that morning sickness and well visits and labor arent covered, but if you have unforeseen complications or a pregnancy-related emergency that is covered. I'd recommend calling and speaking with a rep.

I didn't hear anything about bed rest -- bed rest before your trip? while on your trip? I'm confused.

(If I'm put on bedrest before our trip we will obviously cancel the trip and I will get the necessary Dr note for that)

Our circumstances are obviously different as we are taking an international trip at 24-25 weeks, but FM me if you have any questions you think I could answer...
