Travel question: Did anyone go to high altitudes with infant?
Just trying to plan our summer vacation. Baby will be 7 mos old. We would be up 8000-9000 ft, it would only be one day at that level.
What I am seeing online is that I should look for signs such as vomiting when we are up there, but I don't want to put the baby through that.
Maybe if someone has gone skiing and was that far up? any info would be great.
If its not a good idea, its fine, I will just cut the trip back one day.
tia!

thanks. Going to Yosemite. My sister is getting married there. They are having a lakeside rehersal dinner but its up about 8000 ft.
Our cabin isn't that high up at all. If we can't go that day, it leaves us open to where DH can go climbing instead, so I can subtract a day from total vacation.
TIA!

yes, we went to Vail when Talia was 4 months. It was so dry we had to use a humidifier and make sure she was well hydrated. it was hard for us to breathe up there (harder than normal) but the baby seemed ok. Just talk to your dr. before hand to ease any concerns you may have.

great thanks. I will def talk to dr. Most of what I read is about dehydration.
Something tells me I am in for a completely different type of "vacation"

yeah - I have traveled with my DD a lot this past year - I can tell you it is no vacation - BUT I would rather go away and have it be hard than not go at all.

I have a lot of trips planned for next year...I guess I will call them trips and not vacations anymore. I agree, I can't wait to leave these four walls!

Re: Travel question: Did anyone go to high altitudes with infant?
I moved to NC a few months ago, so
back to NY in March
wedding in FL in July
Wedding at Yosemite in Aug
My brother will be living in France for a year, so we are trying to squeeze that in too. Take advantage of staying with him and the baby not needing a purchased seat on the plane.
I would love to end the year with a Disney cruise but that is wishful thinking.
DH was always a student, he is finally done...I am not working, so I finally feel so free to travel with the only thing having to be worked around is DH's job.
