Travel question, what time would you leave?
Flying out of NYC to Orlando, FL.
Options are at either 6:30, 8:30 or 9:30.
Flight is about 2 hours long.
Which would you choose and why?
Traveling with a 2 year old.
TIA
Eat: all flights are AM.

I would go with 9:30, late enough that you don't have to rush too much or get up too early and mess with DCs morning schedule. Also, you arrive just in time for lunch. I'd also pack snacks in case of delays so you don't have to deal with hungry cranky kids

Re: Travel question, what time would you leave?
I say 6.30 or 8.30. I love flying early, fewer delays and less people! Especially in the city

Re: Travel question, what time would you leave?
8:30
I would never get out of my house in time to make a 6:30 flight. 9:30 means we would arrive just as he normally would be taking a nap and he'd be really cranky on arrival.

Re: Travel question, what time would you leave?
When we flew with DD to WDW when she was 15 months we took the 7am flight. It worked out best for us. Yes you have to get up in the middle of the night but for us DD was then half asleep for the drive to the airport and security etc. Then she slept for part of the flight. I know for us at least if I took a 930am flight - yes you get to sleep later but that is a time DD would be WIDE awake so I thought she might be more fidgety for the flight. I like to take the first flight down or leave in the afternoon.
Are you thinking of taking ME to get to the WDW hotels? Then you might want to think of one of the earlier flights b.c I think the 630 am will get you in around what 930? 10am? This would give you time to get to the hotel before lunchtime. Otherwise you might arrive at MCO just before lunch and then be stuck on the buses during lunchtime with a toddler probably isn't the most fun idea.
The other advantage of the earliest flight is if the weather is bad they have 2 other morning flights to get you out on if your flight gets cancelled, and if it gets delayed you aren't missing a tremendous amount of resort or park time.

I agree. You also get in earlier and that will allow for more play time

Thank you so much. I never thought about the flight being cancelled.
The only reason I am leaning towards a later flight is because DD will be flying for the first time. I just don't know if we do it while she is still half asleep is the best idea, for us. KWIM?
And yes we plan on taking ME, so that will save us some travel time.
Thanks again all

Re: Travel question, what time would you leave?
Don't forget you'll need to get to the airpoint at least 2 hours prior to departure. I would do the 8:30am or 9:30am flight and plan to arrive at the airport by 6am-7am. You should hopefully beat the traffic and can relax in the terminal for a bit with DD.

Re: Travel question, what time would you leave?
we were in the same situation and my thinking was that if we did the 6am flight (which we did) then by the time we got on the plane, DS would be tired from bring up so early and fall asleep on the plane.

Did you leave your DS in his pj's?
I feel like if we need to leave the house at 4:45 or 5, we can just throw her in the car when we need to leave.
She may wake up, but I feel like if she is really really tired she will sleep wherever, whenever.
I doubt I will sleep the night before, anyway.

Re: Travel question, what time would you leave?
We took early flights both ways with DD (21 months) and it worked out perfect since she slept both ways. For us the earlier the better however it depends on your DCs schedule.
