Traveling to Domician Rep at 30 weeks
Opinions? This is the only time my hubby and I would be able to take a "Baby Moon" -
I am a first timer, so I am not sure what it feels like at 30 weeks (comfort level) or if being in the heat is okay...etc.
I would be booking the trip for rest, relaxation, romance...etc.
Any opinions are appreciated!!! Thanks!

I personally wouldn't want to travel in the 3rd trimester. You should probably talk to you doctor about it.

Re: Traveling to Domician Rep at 30 weeks
I believe that most doctors don't want you traveling in the 3rd trimester. I went to my parents house in Savannah Georgia when I was 28 weeks - and my doctor wasn't thrilled about it - but since I wasn't going out of the country she felt better and gave me the go ahead!
Could you move the trip up a few weeks?

I have been to the DR and would not recommend going to a third-world country that far along. DH and I weren't really happy there and he got majorly sick with the runs. I'd fear the "what ifs" too much. Maybe just stick to somewhere within the U.S.!

This is one thing I really worried about. I got sick in Mexico...
Oh well, it's quite expensive anyway, so maybe we will just treat ourselves to something great for our house.
I can't move the trip up a few weeks b.c I am a teacher. We were looking to go over Th-giving break.

How about a long weekend somewhere in the New England area? I'd just try to stay a little local and keep to places where we could drive & not fly.

I don't think I would have felt too comfy travelling to the DR at 30 weeks. The plane ride will be uncomfy and then you have to worry about being in a thrid world country. I would stick to somewhere nearby or at least in the country.

Not even just the doctor not letting you I know alot of planes wont let a pregnant women that far along on the plane.. My cousin had a funeral to attend had her plane ticket and all when she showed up they refused to let her board.. So she had to rent a car and drive down and that was only from NY to Boston.

well, that's not true for 30 weeks. Each airline has a cut-off, and generally, it's somewhere around 32-35 weeks. you definitely must contact the airline while booking and find out what they require (maybe a Dr. note) in order for you to fly. I did so with virgin atlantic...
I'll tell you my experience.... I had a big trip to scotland, london, and germany (25-28 weeks). Overall, I was still doing really well at that time. I walked around all day! Things were good. Even the flights weren't that bad. I only pooped out after the return transatlantic flight.
2 weeks later (30 weeks), I had a 2 day business trip to bethesda MD. I decided to drive becuase then I wouldn't have to haul bags on public transportation... besides, I-95 has tons of rest stops I could visit!
Trip down was tiring, but ok. the trip itself (meetings from 8-6pm) was exhausting. the return trip (I hit traffic and came home very late at night) was HORRIFYINGLY tiring
From 28 to 30 weeks, my stamina seriously decomposed. I realized I was staying on LI until the birth at that point. It was such a sudden increase in fatigue... I presume all women experience it at approx the same time.
So, even if you plan a US trip, travel at 30 weeks (6 hours in a car) may be too much.
IF you can't go earlier, I recommend your alternative plan, getting something nice for your home! you'll get a ton of enjoyment out of that too....

Wasn't there a woman on the news recently who gave birth on a flight from Austraila or somewhere? (Not that that is the norm!!).

Thank you all so much for all your honest opinions!
We decided to use the $3,000 we would have spent on new rugs for the house. We are very happy with it.
