Trial Transfer - Anyone have to go back a second time?

I had my trial transfer yesterday and my Dr. couldn't get the catheter through my cervix into my uterus. He said it was too tight. I have to go back next Monday now and he said this time i need a full bladder.

Has this happened to anyone before? I am so nervous that this is an indication of possible problems during my real transfer

thanks!

I haven't had this with the transfer but I have had situations where my cervix decides not to cooperate (too small). This happened 2x, once when I was getting my 2nd HSG (no problem with the 1st one I did) and the second was when I was getting a uterus biopsy for co-culture (and I had done this 2x also and had no problems the first time I did it).

Some told me I needed a D&C, but none of my RE's ever said to get that. And sometimes its a problem and other times its not. I have no idea what dictates it. I wish I had that answer for you. They do make different size catheters...so maybe ask them if there is a smaller one they can use.

You could be totally fine when you go back next week.

I fear, for me, that it could be a sign of an incompetent cervix, but only time will tell.

Hang in there!

I didn't need to go back for another mock transfer... but they did have a lot of trouble during it! The good thing is that they're ironing out the kinks now so hopefully during your REAL transfer, everything will go smoothly! Chat Icon
