Trip Recommendation
I would like to go away for my one year wedding anniversary in mid-October. Any recommendations? Parameters are 5-7 days, not too far, not incredibly expensive, romantic and relaxing. We've recently been to Aruba and Bermuda, so we are skipping those. Carribean and Mexico are fine although I'm not sure about hurricane season. Anyone know when that is?
Thanks!

Re: Trip Recommendation
I don't really have any recommendations for you, but I will tell you that hurricane season is from June to November. You could take a chance and get trip insurance.
We looked into the Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico for our one year but couldn't swing it with house renovations, but it looked amazing!
Good luck!

Re: Trip Recommendation
Highly recommend Punta Cana! We stood at Excellence Punta Cana and it was amazing! We want to go back there so badly, but airfare is CRAZY expensive for when I can go (being a teacher sucks with traveling sometimes).
The DR is close too...about 3 and a half hours.
Good luck!

Re: Trip Recommendation
How about Quebec? We went in October 2 years ago and had a great time! So romantic even if a little bit on the cold side. And you won't have to worry about hurricanes!

Re: Trip Recommendation
Have you considered a cruise? You get a variety of ports and there is a lot to do. Additionally since it is hurricane season the cruises go around them - you might get a different itinerary but if you go to a resort you are stuck there or you have to leave if a hurricane hits. So at least you would get some or all of your vacation.

Re: Trip Recommendation
We went to Jamaica's Couples Swept Away resort in mid-September of last year. It was awesome. They also say this is the "rainy season" for Jamaica, but we had about 1/2 hour worth of rain TOTAL for the entire trip and even when it did rain, we didn't trouble ourselves to get out of the water- it was so soft and warm.

Re: Trip Recommendation
All good suggestions. Thanks. I have so many places I want to visit, sometimes it feels harder to actually just make the decision on a place and plan the trip.

Re: Trip Recommendation
I am a fan of cruises since most things are included and you get to visit multiple places in one trip.

Re: Trip Recommendation
We went to Barbadis this past October and loved it. It's not 100% out if the hurricane belt but pretty close to it. We had great weather. Otherwise I would suggest Riviera Maya.

Re: Trip Recommendation
Turks and Caicos! Hurricane season does include October but I think the peak-hurricane time is around the beginning of September. I would look at tripadvisor for advice on the best time to go to each desination.
