Trying not to freak...

So I just painted our dining room... I wanted a brown color... I was inspired by something I saw in the pottery barn catalog- brown walls with dark wood furniture... anyway, I finally got around to doing it- I even got color samples, and DH wasnt crazy about the color but I did it anyway because i knew what I wanted... he is out at the Mets game right now and I am thinking that it is too dark Chat Icon It would be such a waste of time, energy and money to repaint it again... im not sure... urgh I hate painting... Don't be discouraged just yet. Maybe it will look nicer in the day light. Chat Icon

It may just take some getting use to.

Thats true... daylight changes things... it is so hard because I dont trust DH's opinion... i need to get another girl in here... when his parents painted the inside of their house a very light yellow his first reaction when coming home from college was "Who the he11 peed on the walls?" Chat Icon

I hope they won b/c if i painted the walls w/o my husband knowing thinking he'll like it when he sees it....

well, he wouldn't be short of VERY VERY angry when he gets back.

Don't paint over it yet!! It definitely takes a few days of getting used too.

Re: Trying not to freak...

is the ceiling and moulding white? As long as the room has a lot of light, it likely won't be too dark. Definitely live with it for a week.... at the end of the week, you'll know for sure....

it doesn't take too much $$$ to repaint, so don't freak. But definitely listen to DHn (even if his style isn't the sleekest), after all, it's his house too. If he really dislikes it, you should repaint.... Sure your dining room won't be exactly as you like it, but your relationship will be happier....

Re: Trying not to freak...

I just did the same exact thing in one of our bedrooms...

I painted the entire room chocolate brown. I lightend it up with cream accents - cream rug, cream & olive toile bedding, and I will paint a cream rocking chair for the corner when I find one. The moulding is cream as well.

I also tried to 'zazz' it up with an accent wall.

Its taking some getting used to... and not everyone loves it. But I love the colors
