Trying to get HO insurance ded from COOP Board
Long story short:
Pipe burst in Ceiling in the bedroom a few years ago. Found it after we came home from being away for a few days. Took out the bed, floor in bedroom, liviing room and dinnette area. We worked it out with our insurance, had a 500 deductible. At the time, verbally asked the super about getting the ded back. He said no. Didn't push it.
Fast foward to a few weeks ago. Same pipe same spot burst, took out the bed only. Found it after we came home from work. Had to buy a new bed (which the insurance covered the one that we lost, not the new one) and another 500 ded.
Wrote to the coop board asking for 1K for my ded since it was the same pipe in the same spot 2x. They replied no. I am going to write an appeal letter this weekend.
Has anyone had any luck with something like this.
Keep in mind, the coop board is responsible for the pipe, not us.
Thanks.

My upstairs neighbor had a pipe in her kitchen that the super worked on break and do damage in my kitchen. The co-op repaired my ceiling and paid for my new microwave. Tell them they have x amount of time to indemnify you for the damage, send the letter to the board and the management company, and if they don't you will take them to court for it. You can file that claim in small claims court, very easy to do on your own. Make sure to get receipts from your insurance company and a copy of the claim to submit to your co-op with your letter. There is no reason they shouldn't reimburse you.

All I want is my deductible. I understand they won't pay for the different between my old bed and new bed. Just because I choose to buy a 4k bed I don't think they should have to pay for it. But I do feel I should be reimbursed for my deductible.

As the pp said, write the board and managing agent , send it certified and if they don't pay, take them to small claims court - it's really an easy process
