TTC for dummies?
We want to TTC in a month or so. We know "how"to but all the "when" to's and such are way tooooooo confusing. Is there a TTC for dummies book out there or a website that you can recommend?

I could really use this info too. I'm totally lost...which is really embarrassing! I read all your posts and I have no idea what they mean.

Re: TTC for dummies?
The best book seems to be "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", by Toni Weschler. Tells all the signs of ovulation, best time to have sex to take advantage of ovulation, etc.

Re: TTC for dummies?
OK. 1. Figure out how long your cycle is 2. Buy ovulation Predictor kits(Walmart has cheap ones called Equate, also the $ store has them 3. EITHER start testing on CD8(1st day of period is CD 1) unril you get two lines are the same or the test line is darker than the control line OR pay attention to your cervical fluid-as you approacj ovulation you fluid will get wetter until it becomes slippery and will stretch between your fingers if you tried it. When you see this start testing(I usually O about 2 days after I 1st see this stretchy CM(cervical Mucous)
Need anything else just ask.

Re: TTC for dummies?
Glad to see that I am not the only "lost" person. We plan on TTCing this summer and I am totally confused regarding all the timing etc.

Re: TTC for dummies?
what about like the things you should do leading up to TTC... like 6 months prior?
A trip to the gyno?
Folic acid?

The Conception Chronicles is a great book, along with Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

Every doctor will tell you something different.
Mine told me to just take a multi-vitamin and then when I get pregnant she will tell me how much folic acid to take, others will prescribe pre-natal vitamins.

I agree. My gyn suggested I take a multivitamin with at least 400 micrograms of folic acid.

Re: TTC for dummies?
My gyn said to start on folic acid three months prior to TTC. I also take a very good multi. I didn't like the prenatals, they made me sick.
