Turkey Fryer

There was a post on here a while back asking how much a turkey fryer was.

Just wanted to let whoever it was know, or anyone else that's interested, that I got one at Walmart on Wednesday for $37!!! And it's a Char-broil not a bo-hack off the rack.

Re: Turkey Fryer

They also sell the peanut oil you need for it right next to it. The peanut oil comes in a 3 gallon JUG, freakin frightening. Like a heart attack in a jar. That was, I think, $22.

Not sure about that. The box actually said peanut oil, but I'm sure you could use vegetable if you want..??

i'll have to look into it - I heard it was soo good - but peanut oil is hardly used in cooking anymore bc so many people are deathly allergic to it.

Peanut oil gives food a fabulous taste. When I do oil fondues, I use peanut oil for the taste - plus it can withstand higher temperatures. That might be why they tell you to use it with the turkey fryer.

Re: Turkey Fryer

There was also a 40.00 fryer at Lowes that I saw on Wednesday. We debated it and then decided against it, considering the price of the fryer, the price of the oil, just to make a turkey at max 2x a year.

For our mini-Thanksgiving yesterday we brined the turkey, and it came out great. Also a bit healthier than the frying.
