turkey sandwich-How often can I have it?
I just had a turkey sandwich for lunch. It was boars head from a very clean and busy deli.
Can I have another sandwich for dinner or should I find something else for dinner? Should I heat it? I didn't heat it before.

Re: turkey sandwich-How often can I have it?
when i was pregnant with DS i had them several times a week. i never heated them ever--the thought of hot turkey made me
my ob told me i could have turkey with no problem. he told me things like salami, pastrami, etc should be in moderation--but i don't eat it anyway.
enjoy your turkey sandwich!

My doctor told me he has never come across anyone getting sick from turkey cold cuts, but he DID have two pregnant moms get struck by lightning!

Re: turkey sandwich-How often can I have it?
the issues with cold cuts is the concern of listeria. This happens when the cold cuts are being packed, before they get to the deli. Listeria is fatal to a baby.
They say you should heat them to steaming to kill the bacteria.
So it's really not an in moderation issue, it would just be real sh*tty luck if the meat you bought had listeria.
Just giving the facts, mam.
I myself try to avoid them (since heating to steaming destroys the desire for me). But I did just have two pieces of a party hero for lunch and they were delicious.
It really is what you are comfortable with

Re: turkey sandwich-How often can I have it?
My dr. said I can eat all cold cuts but try to avoid Roast Beef. I have to say I was still nervous and still do get nervous but I have craving Salami (don't normally even like it) so I am having it maybe 1x per week....sometimes 2x a week and then maybe not for 2 weeks...I am going 2nite to the dr. so I can double check w/ him.

I eat them all the time.
without turkey, I would have NO protein as i really can't tolerate any other meat.
in fact, I just had half a wrap.
thankfully listeria isn't that easy to catch, so I am not overly concerned...just wary of where I purchase them.

Re: turkey sandwich-How often can I have it?
I ate turkey whenever I wanted turkey. Maybe 2 times a week average. I get my sandwiches and coldcuts from the same place everytime, clean, reputable and they turn their meats. I stayed away from everything else. Roastbeef I heated it up. Plus turkey wasnt on my doctors lists of staying away from.

Re: turkey sandwich-How often can I have it?
I never ever worried about heating cold cuts..my OB was fine with them as long as I bought from a reputable place. The chance of getting listeria is SO low.
I would say eat as many turkey sandwiches as your heart desires!
