I still can't believe he got such a light sentence...why didn't they just hand him a cupcake and send him to his room...

sheesh they should have gave him a slap on his hand and say bad boy your punished no tv and No hanging out with your friends for 3 weeks the system is ridiculous i dont understand how he is only getting six months what about the damage they did to this woman she should get compersation for what they did to her and pay for her hospital bills.

Actually, the woman he assaulted lobbied for his lighter sentence. She wanted to teach him about forgiveness.
Ryan Cushing was sentenced to 6 months in prison and five years probation today for throwing a frozen turkey from a car on Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma, nearly shattering every bone in Victoria Ruvolo's face.
The sentence concluded the nearly year-long criminal case, in which five teens were charged. Jack Cutrone, Steven Manzolina, Rachel MacDonald, Michael Hasbrouck and Amanda McDonald have all pleaded guilty to various crimes, ranging from grand larceny to forgery, in exchange for sentences of probation.
In August, as she prepared to confront Ryan Cushing for the first time since he nearly killed her with a turkey, Ruvolo asked Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota if she was being too compassionate by agreeing to a lenient plea deal, Spota said.
"I think you are," Spota told her. "But then, after seeing that emotional scene in the courtroom," he said, he was confident justice had been served.
Cushing once faced a maximum of 25 years, but prosecutors said Ruvolo's compassion sealed the deal.
On the night of Nov. 13, police say Cushing, his cousin, Jack Cutrone, and a group of friends stole a credit card from a parked car, then went on a shopping spree, buying video games, movies and a fresh 20-pound turkey.
Later that night, with Cushing in the backseat, Cutrone sped east on Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma in his 2000 Nissan Altima.
"What did you have on you in the backseat?" Prosecutor Peter Mayer asked Cushing in court.
"A turkey," Cushing said.
"While you were riding in Jack's car, did there come a time when you decided to throw the turkey out the rear passenger's side window?" Mayer asked.
"Yes," Cushing said as his voice cracked.
The turkey crashed through Ruvolo's windshield as she drove west on the road. The impact bent her steering wheel and crushed bones in her jaw, cheeks and left eye socket. Ruvolo underwent eight hours of reconstructive surgery, needed a tracheotomy tube to breathe and had her jaw wired shut.
When the plea was announced in August, Spota said it was difficult to balance the need to send a message of deterrence with other factors, including Ruvolo's benevolence. "I don't want people to get the wrong impression here that we're going to be soft," Spota said. "Had she not been so persuasive and compassionate, probably we would have been asking for more jail time."
Mayer said there was no evidence that Cushing "intended or expected" to hurt anyone.
Spota said he also took into account the profile prosecutors had compiled of Cushing as "passive, non-confrontational, shy ... a follower." Spota said he would be "shocked" if Cushing got in trouble again.

His discipline record at school is not exactly one of "model behavior". I hope it will be but I doubt it will be the last time he sees a courtroom.
