TV-Mad Men
Hey All,
Anybody watch this show? All the guys at my job watch (being we are sales people in the advertising field). We were talking this AM, and this TV show is pretty close to reality (how scary). My industry really did work like that. Of course women's lib, etc changed it, but my manager who started in the industry in the early 70's said sex, drugs, etc did rule the advertising world. So glad it changed (even though it still gets shady once in a while). I'm mean its still a
"boys club" industry, but its about 30% of upper managers/sellers/buyers are female.
Any one else work in this field?

I do! Well I kinda do....it is totally true - the ad business was really like that. Complete with the constant cigarette smoking and drinking (although I am sure that was present in other industries too!)
I absolutely LOVE Mad Men!!!! Seriously it is amazing written and the actors are superb. I cannot wait until it comes back. Its like a hidden gem because it gets none of the recognition it deserves.

sadly the industry is still smoking & drinking. Happy Hour 5 days a week entertaining "clients".
