Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
For the twin mommies only please ...
From what you can remember, and I know it's all a blur approximately how many diapers do you think you went through the first week or so?
I have about 40 Luvs, a small case of newborn Pampers I bought at BJ's and another small (not a case) that I received as a gift but I think they are a larger size and a brand I never heard of.
I'm thinking we need to back the truck up to the loading dock at Costco
TIA

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
it all depends on the sizes of the babies. they were in preemies for about a month, and newborn for about a month, size 1 for month and a half and now 2. Figure you will change them before a feeding, so at 8-12 diapers per child per day. I remembering empty the diaper genie almost everyday.

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
I think thats plenty for the first week or so, maybe 2! I remember using way more than we needed to - we changed them way to often, sometimes they weren't even wet and we changed them. Now, we are older and wiser, and go through a lot less diapers!

Same here - beside what you have, take as many as you can from the hospital and you'll be fine.

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
Thanks ladies. I'm going to pick up some size 1 tomorrow just to have. My FIL loves to go out and run errands, escpially to Costco (he's ADHD ) so I'll send him out for more newborns if I need them when I get home.
Thanks again

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
We probably went through about 10 a day per baby. so 20 a day.
You figure you change them every 3 hours, but they poop A LOT. sometimes we would change them before, during and after a feeding. The formula goes right through them, and they seem to like to poop in a clean diaper.
The beginning was messy, but now we are using less.
My twins came home December 5 and I had
4 premie packs of 40 (5-7lbs) 7 packages of 40 newborn swaddlers (8-10lbs) 2 cases of swaddlers size 1 (216 in each)
and we just had to restock last week. plus i forgot. make friend with the nurses they hooked up with bags of diapers and formula before we left.

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
We changed them at every feeding (which at that point was every 3 hours) so it was a minimum of 16 diapers a day

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
I have a bit of formula (free samples) but I am really intent on breastfeeding. I know it sounds crazy but we have a family friend who EBF with triplets and my MIL is staying with us for the first month and she EBF all of her kids so hopefully my body can do it. If I'm offered formula samples at the hospital I'll still take them because I'll probably have to supplement here and there. I have the Medela pump.
Melissa, thanks for the specific rundown on the diapers.
I'm going to stock up on size one now and fill in with more newborns if I need to later.
Thanks ladies.

Re: Twin Mommies- Diaper questions...
10 per day on each I think.
Also they will give you some at the hospital to take home with out. Take the ones they have in the bassinnetts home each day, well give them to DH to take home with you, same with the formula.
EBF is toally possible with twins, good luck!
Also, my son was 3lb 10 ozs and in the NICU they never had him in premies or nbewborns, always size 1's, so you might not even need the newborns. I have a bunch of permies still at home so if anyone wants those they are welcome to them.

I am getting flashbacks of my Grandmother taking the sugar packets, mints, etc. from restaurants when I was little I guess I'll be doing the same in the hospital.

Definetly take everything! They expect you too, at least thats what my nurse told me. They fill the bassinets that the babies are in, and throw out what you don't use. They don't transfer the stuff from cart to cart - so if you don't take it, its going in the garbage anyway. Again, this is what I was told.
