two wheel bike?
How old was your child when you taught them to ride without the training wheels?

Re: two wheel bike?
Hi! We haven't taken off DS's training wheels yet but, many of his friends are riding without them for a while now... He is 5.5.

Re: two wheel bike?
DS was 6 (summer after K) and DD is now 7 and still has training wheels, but we haven't gotten out there since last summer, but I am sure she'll be riding two wheels in no time.

Re: two wheel bike?
My older son learned the summer before 1st grade ( he was 5) and my little guy learned the summer before kindergarten (he was 5 as well.)

two wheel bike?
At 4, but we took training wheels off and petals and used it as a balance bike. Ino time, I was able to put petals and and he took off riding.

Re: two wheel bike?
Both of my kids were a little over 4.5. My 2nd son just learned in April and he will be 5 the end of Aug. He literally got on and rode no problem, we were SHOCKED!

Re: two wheel bike?
Thanks I think my younger one is ready but we haven't done her sister yet. Around here all the kids but one, whose father taught her a year ago but he is always home and thinks they should be gone by 4, have their training wheels still on. They are all going into 1st. So I was wondering if 6 was average or not. Dh thinks it is still young esp when we don't see other k's without them.

I can't say enough good things about a balance bike! DS had one at 3 and by 4 he was riding his 2 wheeler. Never used training wheels. SO helpful!
