It seems that my kitty's anal gland problems have returned.

The left one has had the thick discharge stuck in there for a couple of weeks. The right one also had the discharge, but it cleared itself out (as I was hoping it would do for both.)

But now there is a clear, shiny discharge over the whole area; I'm guessing maybe it came out of the right after it cleared itself out.

I dont see her in pain, or licking at it, or scooting, she is in the litterbox and eating as normal - but I'm still worried about impaction, infection, etc. Last time she had this problem it was impacted and the vet needed to go in there and clean them out. (Then again last time I would see her constantly licking at it.. thats the only thing that makes me think it's not as bad this time...)

Tonight I'm going to take a damp washcloth, have DH hold her down and try to clean the area to see if anything is going on.

I wish my girl was a better patient, I'd take her to the vet. Unfortunately, she won't even come out of the carrier and is heavy with the claws so she needs to be sedated just to be examined, let alone anything else. Chat Icon
