UGH!!! Billing issues!!!
Why can't the LI-IVF billing office get their act straight!!! I don't know who is messing things up but it's driving me crazy!!! I do have to say, when I call it gets resolved but, I don't need to be dealing with this!!!
When I started there last year I was on DH's insurance which is UHC. My DH has no IVF coverage so we used the grant. They were able to bill certain things through his insurance though. Ok, fine. That went well.
In April, I took the insurance my new job offered b/c they have IVF coverage! It's also UHC. I guess that's where the problem is. 2 UHC policies.
Anyway, I obviously told them about the new insurance and gave them the information and the card to copy. Now, this is my primary insurance b/c it's mine! However, after my 2nd cycle with them, I discovered that they still billed DH's insurance!!!! Some of it went through (sono's and bw) but not the big stuff. Luckily I caught it in time and called them. They re-billed my insurance and it went through fine.
So today, I went to check on something and noticed that they are still screwing up!!! The best part is, I had a follow-up visit with Dr. D. and had blood work done. They billed the bloodwork to my insurance but the office visit to DH's!!! AND, I saw that the anestesiologist (sp?) for my retrieval also billed DH's insurance!!! They paid it all so I guess on their end, they don't care.
So, my question is, what happens if I leave this the way it is? Should I call and get it all re-billed properly again? If, at some point, UHC notices this, will I get in trouble or will it just be processed by the right policy? In the end, it's all UHC and aside from the IVF, our benefits are almost the same.
Thanks for listening to me vent!

Re: UGH!!! Billing issues!!!
I would think this needs to be straightened out. Even though it is the same insurance company it is provided by two different companies and those companies need to have their records straight as it might effect renewal fees.

Re: UGH!!! Billing issues!!!
You should call to get it straightened out. Also, you should call your DH's UHC policy and notify them them that you now have a primary insurance and that your DH's UHC policy is secondary (assuming you're still covered under your DH's policy).
If your DH's policy knows they are secondary they will deny the claim forcing your dr's office take notice and bill the correct insurance policy. GL!
