Ugh, my wallet got stolen.
Luckily I had no cash or credit cards in there, just a debit card that I canceled right away and my insurance cards and my license. I'm just so upset. I feel so violated

Believe it or not, when I was visiting Corinne in the hospital to see her baby. She had a private room, and for SOME STUPID REASON, I left my bag in her room when we all went down to the nursery. I even asked her if it would be safe, and she didn't think there'd be a problem. So her hubby kept going back to the room every 15 minutes to see if there was any other visitors waiting for them, and I think what happened is that I keep all my cash IN my bag, no in my purse, and someone may have heard him coming or saw him. I'm waiting to hear from him to see if he heard or saw anyone in the room.

Did you notify them at the hospital?? Maybe there were video cameras on the floor that saw someone walking out with it. That really stinks, but luckily there wasn't much in there!!

Yeah, I notified the hospital and they said they take this very seriously. They look at everything, who was working, the cameras, are there any patterns of theft, etc. They were very helpful. So hopefully they will get back to me. My hope is that whoever took it saw that there was no cash in there and just dumped it somewhere and maybe it will turn up.

The good thing, however, is that I just got back from my bank, and they were able to print me a new debit/check card on the spot, so starting tomorrow, that will work, and all my other cards are canceled, so it's not like anyone can use them. But I feel so violated knowing that someone could be walking around out there with MY things. AND I realized that I have about 200 dollars in gift certificates in there that I thought were in my bag

This is why they tell you to not wear good jewlery when you go to the hospital. It is a real shame.
I am sorry that you had to go thru that. The sad part is you would think it would be more secure in the maternity area. Which hosptial was this at?

You know what?? I went to see my grandma in a rehab place today and she kept saying that she has $30 in her wallet and it was all gone. I thought she was just misplaced it or just got confused. I gave her another $30. I hope she has it next time I visit, because she really doens't need any money where she is. KNow what I mean???

Rach, your post inspired me. I just copied the front and back of everything in my wallet, including ATM card, credit cards, health insurance cards, EVERYTHING. It is something I've been meaning to do for awhile, but kept putting off. I'm sorry that this happened to you, but thanking you for posting about it b/c it prompted me to take some preventative measures.
