Ugh, ok, birthday party question for Ava...
UGh, I'm still so annoyed about all of this. This is WAY more crap than I wanted to deal with. Anyway, for a Sunday afternoon party from 12-4, do I need to have alcohol? It's going to cost me 12pp more if I get alcohol included, or I can do a champagne punch for 3pp. I'm royally annoyed. I just want a freaking bbq. I looked into some pavillions, but if it's really hot out and there's no a/c, we have a problem, especially with some of the older members of my family. Anyway, just wondering if I need to shell out the extra money for alcohol or not?

OUr families aren't big drinkers so we just ran a tab at the bar and paid that at the end of the party. Is that an option?
Or can you ask if they will just charge you a cork fee to bring in your own liquor?

I definitely DO NOT think you need to spend extra money for alcohol for a 1st bday party. We didn't have any, and all of the 1st bday parties I have been to didn't either. Although I went to one bbq and they had a cooler with some beer in it. You could totally get away with champagne punch, no one expects alcohol at a baby's party, at least that has been my experience.

Do a champagne punch. If it's Sunday it's brunch right. That is fine. It's like serving a fruiter mamosa! Save the money!

It really depends on your friends and family. I know for us, there would be no way to have any type of party with no alcohol- atleast wine and beer.

I too would run a bar tab, if that was an option. I always do this with my family, because they are not big drinkers and it always works out better.

I've never had alcohol at a 1st b-day party either. It's in the afternoon....I think people can deal for a few hours IMO. Tell everyone you put the $12 into a college account for AVA.....Happy Birthday!!!!!

I don't think you have to have alcohol at all - but that is just my opinion.
Rach - why don't you look into have her birthday at a park and have a BBQ there.

Champagne punch sounds fine to me. Do you what you can afford. Too bad if anyone has a problem.

I would do a punch plus if it is kept cold it can be refreshing and nice for the summer.

Re: Ugh, ok, birthday party question for Ava...
I would love to do a park, but there's just no way with my older relatives that I can do that and not have them complain. They're old, Italian and never go in the sun or heat I spoke to my mother, she said forget all the alcohol, no one would expect it anyway, so that's what I'm doing. No alcohol. They can all bite me if they want it. Thanks girls

We did not have alcohol. The only one who really drinks is my FIL, and he just paid for his own at the bar.
