Ugh... WWYD? Pre-school related.

So this is DS's third week at pre-school. He goes three days a week in the mornings for 2.5 hours.

Every day the nanny/DH tells me that the teacher said he cried the whole day. That makes me sooo sad. I don't want him to be sad, but I can't figure him out.

In daycare, same thing happened, and after about 2 weeks of going part time he was fine. He always did better after his nap - but of course he's not getting a nap now. He is home before his regular nap time every day so it's not that he's tired.

What do I do? Give it more time? Meet with the teacher? I am so at a loss here. He's just too young to tell me (or anyone else) what's wrong. Chat Icon

OMG poooor Luca!!! uggggg!!! I hate Hearing that lb!!! Im no help.. I'd pull him out!!! (not the solution).

My rational mind says talk to the teacher yourself and have her explain what she means by "crying all day"...there could be confusion in the "translation" from the teacher to the nanny and dh. id get it from the teacher herself. KWIM. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Give it time. It's a whole new world for him and he's young.

One day, you'll see he will run in and not look back.

But I know it sucks to know your kid was crying.

Poor little man...maybe it's the age thing. Frankie has been telling me that he doesn't want to go to daycare for about one month now. he says he wants to stay home with me. He cries when i drop him off but the teachers tell me that he stops the second I leave.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ugh... WWYD? Pre-school related.

I wonder if he's crying because your DD isn't with him.

Elizabeth was crying all summer long in day care up until I went back to work - DS is with her now and she's a different kid. She has no issues with me leaving her anymore because to her mind, I'm not choosing DS over her.

A friend of mine is also having this issue with her DD, but she's older so she's able to say that she's sad because her baby sister is home and she's not.

I would talk to the teacher and the director. I am sure there have been other kids who've cried in the past and maybe they will have some ideas.

Talk to the teacher. It may help. The teacher may be able to give you some ideas on how to make it a bit easier for him.Chat Icon
