Ugh - Moldy Carseat - WWYD?
My Mom stored DS #1's carseat down her basement for me for approximately 1 year.
Well, I took it out yesterday and there was some mold growing on it, including the straps.
I washed the cover in the washing machine w/ vinegar and am going to spot clean the straps with soap and water...
But I am a little nervous to use it... WWYD? I really didn't feel like plunking down another $170 for a new carseat (when this one was practically brand new!) but of course my child's health is priority. DS #2 is due in 10 days...
Update: I just contacted Chicco and I was able to order a new carseat cover and straps for $57. Much cheaper than replacing the entire thing, and gives me peace of mind.
I am still going to clean it just in case it doesn't make it to my house in time for when I need it, but I feel better that the baby won't be sleeping on potential mold spores for the next 6-9 mos!
Chicco's customer service was great!!!!!!!

i would try cleaning with bleach - known for killing mold and if you don;'t see any spots i would use it - also i would clean it and put it outside in the sun to dry

Thank you! I will try this. I also read vinegar was a natural way to kill mold as well.
